It’s amazing to see how much of an impact the right jewellery can make on transforming a character, or even an entire storyline. So we’re having ourselves a movie day today and catching up with our favourite jewellery moments from the silver screen – get your popcorn ready!
The Heart of the Ocean – Titanic
Rose’s incredible giant blue diamond is probably our all-time favourite jewels from film – not only is it a really captivating piece of jewellery, but it has such a heart wrenching role in the movie too!
In the film, the enormous blue diamond that hangs at the centre of the necklace was once owned by Louis XVI, and cut into a heart after the French Revolution. Passing into the hands of her fiancé, Hockley, it becomes the ‘heart of the ocean’, when a salvage team find that nude portrait.
Yeah, we know how the story goes after that. Hankies at the ready!
Carrie’s Black Diamond Engagement Ring – SATC 2
Ah, that long and turbulent relationship.
It seemed only fitting that their engagement ring should totally buck tradition and go for something completely different, right?
Carrie’s hefty black diamond ring was perfect for her – capturing her sense of being a unique and gorgeous woman, with a love for all things fashion and a trendsetter in every sense of the word.
Set in 18 carat white gold with 80 pave diamonds around it – it was definitely spectacular!
Ok, so we’ve totally got major SATC cravings now…
Pearl and diamond necklace – Breakfast at Tiffany’s
That pearl necklace. That iconic look. Do we need to say anything more? Not really, but when it comes to the always captivating Audrey Hepburn, you can never sing her praises enough.
It was a beautiful and truly iconic piece of jewellery that defined a look for a generation of stars. Pearls weren’t just for twinsets and older ladies – this was a look that was classic, elegant and fantastically sophisticated at once.
Now all we need is that perfect LBD…
The Ring – Lord of the Rings
Seriously, how could we do a movie jewellery round up without including the Precious??
We all love to put on our best Gollum impressions around the office. And the thought of having a super-powered gold ring that controls everything sounds pretty sweet sometimes.
But we’ll pass on the crazy fiery eye in the sky. Definitely not a good look on a night out!
