NYFW Street Style Inspiration: Showers, Stripes and BFFs
Posted on 15 September 2015
Have you been as hooked to the latest street style updates coming through from New York Fashion Week as we have?
While we seriously love seeing all the incredible action on the runways (loved Libertine's raucous, punky colours, while Threeasfour's space-age serenity left us swooning) everyone knows that if you want a real creativity fix, the street is the place to turn your attention.
Street shower style
While September showers graced the start of Fashion Week, a little rain is hardly a thing to turn hard-core fashionistas off their game, right?
Instead, a classic brolly turns into the perfect accessory for a crisp monochrome look – paired with red lippy and architectural sunnies, this is the perfect inspiration for tackling autumn showers with flair. Underscore the sharp, contemporary tone of the look with Rhiannon Palmer’s unique Base Line concrete bar necklace.
If you ever felt that stripes just look a little too cartoonish on you – then sit up and take note from the NYFW legions who turned stripes into the next lust-worthy statement.
From the subtly cool, to colour clash radness, stripes need very little to accessorize their awesomeness – a sleek monochrome clutch bag is all you need to stay on the right side of effortless, as demonstrated so perfectly here.
And of course, a special mention to the all-round amazing Tavi Gevinson who simply left us nodding in admiration.
Move over, BFF necklaces. Matching BFF biker jackets – a la these stylish lasses – is definitely the best way to proclaim your awesome friendship to the world.
But our favourite street style shot of all from NYFW though, has to be this brilliant glimpse from Phil Oh.
Like a still out of a sulky, sultry coming of age drama – with heaps more high fashion – don’t you just wish you could be part of this girl gang? Pairing old school Adidas jackets with Chanel, denim cut-offs and aviators like it’s totally NBD – we’re just blow over in total awe.
