In The Mood For Autumn

Layering up has begun again in earnest, the denier count on our tights has already gone into triple figures, and the first round of the dreaded sniffles has already reared its ugly head.

There’s something really special about the feel of autumn in the air, when the trees outdo your own bling collection with their gorgeous canopies of ruby, saffron and pale citrine-coloured leaves.

When keeping out the chill with a stern polo neck jumper just gives you an added excuse to show off a sparkling necklace in the later October light.

So we’re absolutely in the mood for autumn, and all of its lovely, pumpkin-spiced scented offerings. To make sure you’re as stylish as can be, read on to check out the trends of the season:

Bling is back

Wait, did it ever go away?

GivenchyWell, we’re certainly glad to see that the Fall/Winter runways embraced bling with both hands, with generous lashings of sparkly things as far as the eye could see.

Givenchy didn’t shy away from the “more is more” philosophy – with blazingly ornate septum rings, facial decorations and a cluster of jewels encrusting every spare bit of space on models’ ears.

For some runway style inspiration, check out Claudia Baldazzi's utterly dazzling collection of chandelier earring and sparkling ear cuffs – the perfect way to make a show-stopping statement.

Going for bold

Jonathan SaundersDo you remember those weird, mind-bending optical illusions that made your eyes ache back in school?

Designers are definitely working that spirit, with full on sensory overload, as promised by Christian Dior.

Optical graphic prints and bold colour combinations call for an accessory statement that can stand its ground, without over-complicating things - Jonathan Saunders paired cool, op-art prints with space age sunglasses and sleek, minimal shapes – perfect for showing off the simple Base Line necklace.

The geek got glam

Who doesn’t love channelling their inner geek in autumn – the perfect season for chunky tights, knits and the cutest of hats?

Brit Stitch BackpackThink Margot Tenenbaum this season – youthful, gorgeous and bookish – with just a hint of something off-kilter beneath the surface. Partner those sensible shoes and tights with a very impractical touch of something sheer, with plenty of girly frills and flowers peeking out at the bottom of your duffel coat.

Don’t forget your Brit Stitch Backpack – with the perfect balance of geeky satchel goodness and beautiful colours.
