Mrs Fountain's Garden Earring

About The Designer

Candice Tripp is a South African born artist living in the North East of England.

She began showing her work at 21 when her darkly humorous paintings caught the eye of a local gallery. Within a year she was exhibiting internationally.
As an entirely self taught painter, her practice evolved to include sculpture. She soon discovered wax carving, which she fell in love with immediately.

Her  jewellery collection acts as an extension of her art; turning her dark, childlike subjects into miniature, wearable keepsakes. She personally carves each design in wax before having it cast in sterling silver.

Candice has had solo shows in London and New York and recently provided the award-winning artwork for Arrow Video's release of Donnie Darko. This year she has been invited to exhibit a large-scale installation at the Bangkok Art Biennale.

Worn as a single statement earring, an oxidised skull stud acts as a pin to the leafy ear jacket that hangs behind the earlobe. The stud is on a long double notch post and fastens with a snug push-on earring stopper for an extra secure fit. The double notch will make it more difficult for any earring back to work its way off the post.

Based on the stories of bone meal that fortified Mrs Fountain's rose beds in Donna Tartt's The Little Friend, the garden charm was sculpted by hand in wax, and cast in 925 Sterling Silver.
